Rep. Valoree Swanson is Right About Pornography

Republican Valoree Swanson [R - HD150] has filed House Continuing Resolution 2 to recognize pornography as a public health hazard.

I haven’t had a chance to look at what the #1 resolution is, but I assume it is a resolution proclaiming that Jesus Christ is King.

Imagine being this patriotic (you can’t)

Imagine being this patriotic (you can’t)

Despite over a dozen states passing similar resolutions in the last few years, this is still the biggest issue not being discussed. If you are watching pornography, it is probably destroying your life and you probably are not even aware of it. So it’s a great thing Representative Swanson is moving forward with this again.

Living up to the meme with exactness, the very vulgar and unfunny leftists at Living Blue implied the reason the anti-porn resolution should not be passed into law was because “it’s 2020.” No attempt is made to refute any of the claims in the resolution, and frankly I’m surprised they didn’t call it a conspiracy theory to say porn was harmful. This seems to be the new leftist cope to deal with everything that challenges their worldview — Just say everything is a QAnon conspiracy theory.

Their position is one of outright dismissal, almost as if it is self-evident that pornography is not a public health hazard, and implicitly throwing shade at anyone who hasn’t figured this out (through unspecified means) by the current year of 2020.

Declaring “it’s the current year” is not an argument. However, if you were to declare the current year, the proper way is to say it is “the year of our Lord two thousand twenty.”

If Democrats were to take a position on pornography they would either take the hardline libertarian position, or project the hardline libertarian position onto Republicans and claim Republicans are not living up to their own values.

Good thing we’re not libertarians. 😉

It is worth noting, this is a serious issue that demands serious people take serious measures to figure out what the hell is going on. It’s a complex topic with far reaching implications for society, sending harmful ripple-effects through time. If Democrats can’t take it seriously, I can’t say I’m frustrated or even surprised.

Instead of drooling on yourself and giggling, saying “lol it’s 2020” I thought we could examine some of the evidence supporting the claims in the resolution.

There is a lot of evidence to support the idea that pornography is a public health hazard. Particularly for young men.

Thankfully, /pol/ has compiled a list of studies showing the deleterious effects of masturbation and pornography.

These are, of course, more worldly critiques of the problems pornography brings upon individuals. The spiritual harm done is far greater, but beyond the scope of this piece.

To speak frankly and honestly, watching pornography is just about the most pathetic thing a man can do. There is no glory in sitting there watching men have sex with women on a screen backlit with artificial light. It’s very sick. It’s anti-social, anti-family, anti-Christ, anti-normal, anti-honor, anti-glory.

Heck, I could even give it it an award for being so “anti.”

We could sit here and rail on the fact that Democrat men are often, obviously, suffering greatly from testosterone issues. This is mainly due to plastic exposure and toxic food, but also from pornography addictions. These issues often manifest visibly just by looking at them.

I’m not going to post photos because it would be seen as making fun of them. However, it’s not really a thing to laugh about.

I’ve heard some claim banning pornography would require Chinese-style totalitarian censorship. This is simply not true.

If you were to do an online search for “child p*rnography” you would probably find you can not easily find any. The reason is that the companies involved in bringing the internet to your fingertips have very serious liability bearing down on them if they are creating easy access to illegal content like child p*rnography.

If we applied the same laws to hardcore pornography as we currently do to child p*rnography, these massive telecom corporations and ISP’s would have the problem of ubiquitous porn access solved, lickety-split.

While this bill isn’t the increase in regulation we need, it is a great start.

And let me tell you something, for reasons that are far beyond the scope of this website, the mere act of filing this bill is going to get the entire system to take notice of Ms. Swanson. This bill existing will make her life more difficult, and she deserves our strongest support for her courage.
