Reno Texas Police: ‘We Might Not Come’

Reno, Texas, just 30 minutes northwest of Fort Worth, has it’s citizens in a situation to not bother calling their police in an emergency because the chief of police hasn’t been able to deliver on the raises he irresponsibly promised. Now the police aren’t working or aren’t interested.

It should be noted that Reno Police Chief Simmons decided on these pay increases and promotions without city council discussion.

Reno elected officials and the town's police officers had their backs on the wall on opposite ends of the council chambers on Monday Night. In between were a couple dozen town residents listening to an occasionally contentious discussion about Police Chief Tony Simmons' recent decision to promote two of his officers without City Council discussion.

We received a copy of the Reno Chief of Police Employment Agreement and confirmed raises are to be given with city council discussion:

Police Chief Simmons decided to skip this step.

Former mayor and odd guy, Arthur Roen Cox, then went to a Reno Facebook group to claim the town would no longer be protected by police around the clock.

Cox, along with another former mayor Eric Hunter, then proceed to push the agenda that Reno needs to disband as a city, because apparently that will totally result in greater competence and security or something.

So, public safety should forever be compromised because taxes? I didn’t know an AnCap could get elected.

While we don’t support the Reno police chief’s attempt at pilfering the public purse without the town’s consent, the idea to abolish your own town is ridiculous. Instead of advocating the disbanding of government itself, which would result in nothing being maintained (especially when crime is skyrocketing across America), a better idea would involve holding the chief accountable. I’m frankly unsure of what I can say that hasn’t already been said at this point.

Meanwhile in Reno (if Cox and Hunter had their way).

The stupidity doesn’t end here unfortunately. Reno police officer Brandon Gall, former mayor Cox, and former councilman Morris Pruitt are seen here mocking sitting council member Randy Martin for the way he dresses. Martin is a blue collar guy who is always working hard, which requires working clothes. Maybe instead of playing dress-up they should, you know, get back to work or attempt to save their city from going under.

I guess it’s no wonder Cox and Pruitt are both former elected officials
