Abbott Cancels MLB over MLB Canceling Georgia Over Georgia Canceling POC’s
There is brave, stunning and brave, and then there’s Greg Abbott.
ESPN:
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott announced Monday afternoon that he would not be throwing out the first pitch at the Texas Rangers' home opener, as had been scheduled, because of Major League Baseball's response to voting laws recently passed in Georgia.
Georgia passed a law that bans persons of various colors from voting. Election judges will determine whether or not someone can vote based upon a spot skin test.
Proponents of the law have used the tag line “If u votin’ then u ain’t black.” A subtle dig at a gaf made by then-candidate for President Joe Biden, who received more votes than any American in history due to his extraordinary political talent.
"I was looking forward to throwing out the first pitch at the Texas Rangers' home opening game until @MLB adopted what has turned out to be a false narrative about Georgia's election law reforms. It is shameful that America's pastime is being influenced by partisan politics," the Republican governor tweeted.
After allowing Major League Baseball teams in Texas to reap the benefits of millions upon millions of dollars in tax breaks and incentives, Greg Abbott has put his foot down — taking the number of pitches he will throw from 1 down to 0.
But canceling MLB is a dangerous move.
Experts worry this situation could result in an unstoppable chain reaction of cancelings, ultimately leading to the universe canceling itself completely.
Co-owner of the Texas Rangers, Ray Davis, gave Abbott a nice $100,000 donation in 2019 despite Abbott not being up for re-election for over 3 years.
Instead of taking actual action to punish these corporations that are harming our agenda, Abbott takes fake action by sending a tweet.
It’s almost like these people take the money they save from special tax carve-outs, and then donate the money to the politicians who enabled the carve-outs.
It’s a neat trick.
Anyways, we just have to listen to the Texas Republican Initiative and trust the plan.
