Jeff Leach Calls for Special Session to Address Age of Consent
Jeff Leach didn’t wait for the ink to dry on his Stripper Protection Plan being signed into law before he was calling for another special session to increase the age of consent in Texas.
The new law signed by Governor Abbott on Monday increased the age requirement for strippers and adult bookstore workers from 18 to 21. Supporters of the law claim the measure will fight against human trafficking through magical and mysterious means that have yet to be explained. Opponents of the law said that it’s merely a slippery slope towards Leach’s real aims of raising the age of consent.
Hours after the bill becoming law, Jeff Leach gave an impassioned speech on the House floor where he did in fact call for the age of consent to be raised to 60 years old.
“This is something I’ve wanted all my life” said the Representative from Plano. “We have retired strippers who are struggling to make ends meet. This law gives them a new opportunity to do what they love. But it doesn’t go far enough. This is a movement” he said.
Objections were raised by members of the chamber to his effort, with some even calling it “nasty” and “disgusting.”
”Look” said Leach, “I know some here have said what I’m trying to do is a slippery slope. To them I say, you’re damn right it is. It’s a low, saggy, greased up slippery pair of slopes in fact, and this motorboat’s engine is just warming up.”
