The Key to a Successful State (Sunday Edition)
Back in 2015, one of the most shocking things said by then-candidate Donald Trump was his claim that he had “never” asked God for forgiveness. He went on to say he’d never really done anything to warrant asking God for forgiveness. At the time, I remember being shocked at such an admission. Being a native Texan, I didn’t think I’d ever met a person who would say something like that.
I assume most people were like me and went into Trump’s presidency trying to forget he ever said that. From when he made the claim to when he won the election left plenty of time to make yourself forget about that weird statement. But when we look at the way things turned out for his tenure, I think it’s a safe bet that he never actually starting repenting.
Ultimately, this could have led to Trump being deceived by traitors, as he was not spiritually ready to discern truth from lies in the most corrupt city on earth, Washington D.C.
Just as this is possibly an area where Trump went wrong, this is also where the United States of America went wrong. The country at large made many mistakes, and for a long time the people of America were not at fault. Americans didn’t realize the forces working in the shadows, and the lies that were being fed to them. They were dealt many blows, and for a while they were able to absorb these blows without slowing down.
Infinity abortions was something Americans didn’t want, but was forced on them against their will. Propaganda of a subversive nature was imported from Europe and introduced slowly to break down the moral foundation of the people, and those entrusted with protecting society from such destructive influences failed to do their duty in stopping it. There were numerous small blows, little jabs to America’s moral core.
For a long time, the evil and corruption was confined to a small group of power and money hungry sellouts that allowed these forces in.
This is no longer the case as now we are all participating in this modern day Babylon called the United States that has “made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”(Rev. 14:8) We should feel sorrow not because of the loss of our freedom, and soon the loss of our land, but at the realization that our actions have offended our Father and our God.
Nevertheless, we will always be Americans, for that is the nation of our birth. A nation blessed by the hand of God to as a part of His great and mysterious plan for his children. We accomplished more than arguably any nation that came before us. They can tear down every last statue and rewrite every history book, but they cannot change the fact that it happened and it was glorious in the sight of God.
While it’s possible, through a miracle sent from heaven, that we may wrestle back America and turn things around, and I hope we do, it seems unlikely. Most people in the more populous states are much content to take happiness in sin.
So today I will make the case not just for an independent Texas, but for a Texas built upon the humility of acknowledging our mistakes, and upon a continual repentance, preceded by a faith in Jesus Christ, so that we may stay in God’s favor in the future. Individually and collectively, without the hand of divine providence, we have no chance to pull off the kinds of miracles we all seek.
For this to work, we must understand and affirm that this is the path that will lead to the best outcome.
While we didn’t go straight from 1950’s poodle skirts to 2019 drag queen story hour, we have been on this path for some time. It is written in the Congressional record, a 1969 a quote from C. Girard Davidson, a warning regarding our country’s extreme permissiveness: “our generation [will be remembered as] the last of the educated mind and the educated heart, so sensitive in understanding, so wretched over failures, so modest about our triumphs, so permissive with everyone who wanted to do his own thing that we let civilization go to hell without any curiosity about what would replace it.”
Isaiah said, “For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.” (Isa. 60:12.) We now see this wasn’t a joke.
Not only will obedience to God ensure a future Texas nation avoids destruction, but it will bring about untold blessings, the kind of which America was once entitled to receive. We can understand this principle by hearing the words from the Psalmist, “O how love I thy law! … Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies. … Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. … Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.” (Ps. 119:97–98, 105, 111.)
A society that, by and large, respects both individual freedom and the commandments of God is a balance that is difficult but necessary. This trait of freedom and respect for God’s commandments was once taken for granted as an obvious truth, and was woven into the fabric of America. Now that we have “progressed” (i.e. fallen) we have adopted new values and false Gods.
In the future, a redo of liberal democracy will not be sufficient to protect ourselves from the globalist hell that will be foisted upon the fallen nations of the earth in the coming years.
We must be serious.
Our national motto is “In God We Trust.” But do we live up to this standard as a people? I think the fact that everyone wears superstitious masks is conclusive evidence that we do not trust God.
To truly walk up to the pattern put forth by the Master, we must experience a change of heart and not just a change of behavior. The ways of the world today must be looked at with disgust. This will be an ongoing challenge for us all.
The Lord Jesus Christ said, “Why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46.) I imagine he said this with a certain loving sadness. Where we are at in America today, with all our willful transgressions, to have “in God we trust” on our money is probably not doing us any favors in this regard.
It is almost always the case that raising children, as many as you can realistically have, to be chaste and upright before the Lord accomplishes more for furthering an agenda of liberty than any amount of political activism. In the process of changing our own hearts and becoming spiritually born of God, and teaching this to our children, we shift the collective consciousness of the people in the present day, as well as steer things towards a more positive future.
Easier said than done, I know.
We must take responsibility.
We have already gone over some of the factors that have led us to this situation. It’s easy to feel sorrow at our current situation and what the future looks like. But this sorrow will not help us obtain sufficient repentance as a people.
We have all let evil into our homes through technology, and we have all willingly fed this evil system through our purchases. We have rationalized this choice in one way or another. Many of us have done much more than these simple, passive things to degrade the moral foundation of America through our choices. Some of us have dragged others down along the way. This humble realization is the proper way to morn for our nation and our people, and the way in which repentance must be approached.
We are entitled to help.
The Savior tells us in Revelation, “I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him.” Notice that He is not waiting for us to knock, He is knocking now! Begging us to open the door and let Him into our hearts.
It doesn’t matter how mediocre we think we are, Christ’s gifts and powers are enough to overcome all of our weaknesses and shortcomings.
No one wants to see us as a free and righteous people more than God the Father and His son Jesus Christ. No one is more willing to help us create a real sanctuary for unborn children and society of moral fortitude for our youth than Him. He has the power to help you triumph in your own personal struggles as well as our collective struggle.
The vision of something better.
Why must we be forced to continue to tolerate evil?
A proper government must give support to proper moral codes of behavior. These are the basics — the things that ensure families have the best chance to prosper. Why is pornography, something that is destructive beyond calculation, still legal and ubiquitous when it can so easily be restricted? Would people really miss it?
A proper government need not punish every sinful transgression, but it should guard against widespread attempts to break down the morality we know leads to true happiness through God’s wisdom and the wisdom of our forefathers.
The storm is coming.
This process of independence, should we choose to undertake it, will very likely be extremely turbulent and filled with an anxious uncertainty at best. It’s my view this will be such a distressing endeavor that a new people will be forged in the process. This is my great hope, that a great struggle will unite a new people of a new nation. In the same way exploring and taming the American frontier forged a new pan-European people, the American, so we will be known as the Texan after we break away from the grips of Babylon, “the mother of harlots and abominations of the earth.”
Ponder, repent, and then fill your lamps. What lies ahead is guaranteed to be wild.
