Zul-gate Update, Case of Aspiring Mayor of Carrollton Lingers in Court 9 Months Later
On October 8, 2020, we learned that a man by the name of Zul Mirza Mohamed had been arrested and charged with 109 felonies related to voter fraud
The would-be mayor of Carrollton had allegedly misdirected 109 absentee ballots to a P.O. Box for a sham nursing home. He allegedly set up the P.O. Box with a fraudulent Texas driver license and a fraudulent University of North Texas student ID.
How does this bust factor into the current discussion on Election Integrity? Apparently, not at all.
Since the high profile arrest, the little matter of Zul Mirza Mohamed’s alleged theft of 109 ballots has kind of fizzled away. He seems to have been out on bail since October.
News sources indexed by Google have tracked exactly 1 instance of the candidate’s name in 2021. Someone at The Hill reported in May 2021 that Zul had been indicted. Since then, no news.
You’d kind of figure that Texas Republicans would be saying “Zul” at least once or twice in every discussion of election integrity. But for whatever reason, he has been forgotten. But maybe it would appear racist to draw attention to a minority alleged criminal? We aren’t sure, but we assume DR3 is in play.
We took a look at the docket and it would seem like there might be some events that someone could cover.
While we await the announcement on August 18, we take this opportunity to remind you that there really are people who have no problem stealing mail ballot votes. Unfortunately, most of them are smarter and better organized than Zul.
