Who Really Runs the Texas Legislature?

The following video is from January during the House rules debate. It exemplifies how the Texas legislature works.

This was an amendment to ban Democrats from chairing committees. It did not pass.

Many Republicans voted in favor of the amendment. But ultimately it was all meaningless, because all but two Republicans voted for Dade Phelan to be speaker. When Republican House members cast their vote for Dade Phelan, the Screw Job Session was inevitable.

There are a handful of people in Austin that call the shots. Unfortunately, they are all very weird.

I assume it’s a stressful transition to go from normal person to someone who has to rationalize all of their deceitful behavior.

The culture in Austin is that of endless scams, treachery, and intimidation.

It’s completely toxic, and it’s up to all of us to bring it down.
