Lone Covid Survivor of Texas Town Says He Will Continue to Wear Mask

SILVERTON, Texas — The Coronavirus pandemic continues to decimate the human population, and even small towns in the Lone Star State are not immune from the fallout. Fifty two 27 septendecillion Texans have died this year from the COVID-19 coronavirus, which is much, much different than other coronaviruses in that it kills indiscriminately. Nevertheless, the few who survive the virus are left with the task to rebuild with what remains of civilization.

Mert Blake is the lone survivor of Silverton, Texas, a small town about an hour southeast of Amarillo. In January the town had about 1,000 residents. Today, all but Mert have died from the coronavirus.

Silverton’s last resident said he worked as a mail carrier for the US Post Office in Silverton up until recently, when US President Donald Trump defunded the Post Office. Blake says he was fired personally by Trump who called him on his personal cell phone and said he was a “loser” and a “sucker” and informed him he was fired.

While most towns in America have seen their populations drop to zero from the pandemic, several have been left with one sole survivor. Others, like Boys Ranch and Snyder, have been left without any adult survivors, leading to packs of children roaming the streets and forming gangs competing for resources.

Other towns have lost contact with the rest of the country and the exact number of survivors remain unknown. After the Wu Who Death swept through Vega, Texas, town leaders took the remaining residents into an underground bunker. Radio communications with Vega went dark in late July.

Mert Blake says he contracted the coronavirus in June despite taking the proper precautions as issued by Governor Greg Abbott, who assumed his role as Mommy-in-Chief in March in response to the deadly virus outbreak. Blake says he had a low grade fever and “felt tired” but that he felt better after he drank some water.

Due to this virus being a special virus, unlike anything the world has ever seen, Mert says he will continue to wear his mask despite never coming into contact with other people. “You can never be too careful” he said.

Scientists say, citing scientific evidence, that even one death is five too many. Mr. Blake says he will continue to believe in science, unlike some people in our country today. “The only way out of this mess is to believe in science.”
