Doing the Animals that Americans Won’t Do

San Antonio resident, Jean Bugamo, was arrested on charges that he physically and sexually assaulted horses. He allegedly trespassed into a barn where cameras caught him walking nude from stall to stall. When he came back for more on another occasion, he was caught and police matched his DNA to the animals.

Generally, the press is all over a “man bites dog” story, but the coverage of this “man [does] horse” story has been cursory at best. As is well known, the more diverse the perp, the less interesting is the crime. New reports tell us nothing more than Bugamo’s age (24). Current Revolt has thus far been unable to determine anything the man, but based on the unusual surname, we will hazard a guess that he is likely either a new arrival from Papa New Guinea or the son of a recent arrival.

The word “Bugamo” is most closely associated with the Bugamo tribe of Papa New Guinea.

This is a Stone Age people whose trademark is adorning full body skeleton makeup.

Their skeleton artwork is pretty neat. It’s the kind of thing kids would do if they never grew up. But as neat as the skeleton painting culture of the Bugamo tribe might be, we don’t benefit by importing it. It’s funny to imagine how such things fish-out-of-water scenarios would unfold.

But the reality is a lot bleaker.

We are just glad it was only a couple of horses. This could have ended much worse.

But this begs the question — why are these people here?
