Greg Abbott Defends Free Speech by *Checks Notes* by Attacking Free Speech

Greg Abbott continues to showcase that his loyalties are not with the people of Texas.

In between the Governor’s weekly fundraising emails, Abbott took a moment to record a short video on his endorsement of a “thought police” agenda for Texas.

The nation of Israel went unmentioned in the remarks, yet the Israeli flag was prominently displayed in the background as Governor Abbott attacked the social media platform Gab, and reiterated his commitment to police the speech of Texans, even going as far as to say that policing speech “represents Texas values.”

Gab responded to the baseless, incoherent accusation.

After spending years trying to finagle obviously unconstitutional Anti-BDS laws through the courts by endlessly tinkering with the terms, the Abbott regime has really jumped the shark with this proposed “Commission on Antisemitism.”

While all Texans should find it troubling, there was someone who really enjoyed himself in this moment.

Craig Goldman [R-HD97]

The bill, HB3257, really shows how far Republicans are willing to go to advance the interests of anyone besides those of their own voters.

The bill would establish a “Commission on Antisemitism.”

What is “antisemitism” you ask?

They tell us–

(1) ”Antisemitism" means a certain perception of Jews that may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. The term includes rhetorical and physical acts of antisemitism directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals or their property or toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.

There is a lot going on here.

First of all, if your definition includes the qualifying phrase “a certain” and then uses the word antisemitism to define antisemitism, something seriously nefarious is going on.

Second, “rhetorical antisemitism” appears to be just another way of saying “free speech.” Since antisemitism is defined as antisemitism, this seems to be the most logical assumption.

Third, to meet the definition of “antisemitism” the antisemitism (again, not actually defined) must be directed “toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals or their property.” Looking at this closely, this would seem to include, effectively, everyone and everything in the world.

Abbott seems to go to Israel a lot

In case you were wondering, the State Department has a working definition of antisemitism.

In fact, the State Department definition is so broad that it would include criticizing a single Jewish person for anything, as well as reading from the Bible as being an act of antisemitism. Read it for yourself if you don’t believe me.

This commission will not have much statutory power, and will mostly go around harassing people and trying to ruin their lives by other means, but commission appointments will be coveted by those seeking higher offices.

Being on this commission will no doubt be a great feather in your cap to signal allegiance to whatever coalition Abbott is trying to strengthen here. It sure as heck doesn’t help anyone I know to spend time and energy going after “antisemitism” that is defined as antisemitism.

Did I mention Abbott has $40M in his campaign account?

Does Abbott think people aren’t starting to notice what he’s doing? Are we supposed to believe his trips around the world, constantly meeting with other top globalists is unrelated to his virus lockdowns and his attack on Texans’ free speech?

There was a time when Texas Republicans wanted to decrease government. Should this bill pass, the proposed “Antisemitism Commission” will be grafted into the Texas Historical Commission, an agency that former Gov. Rick Perry sought to defund

On the same day his tyrannical, lunatic mask mandate expired, Governor Abbot proved once again that he does not share OUR VALUES or our belief in freedom.

He declares that Texans have freedom of speech - as long as that speech does not violate "values".

Whose values, Greg?

The Texas GOP has an account on Gab. Is Greg Abbott’s own party “The Texas GOP has an account on Gab. Is Greg Abbott’s own party “antisemitic?”

Is Only Fans "free speech” and “our values” Gov Abbott?

Just asking!

Just asking!

How about all the anti-white material being spread at Texas public universities, schools that operate under your preview, Gov. Abbott — is this also “free speech” and “our values?”

How about all those drag queen story hours in Austin and elsewhere in the state, is this also "free speech” and “our values?”

Is an employer telling people to "Try to be less White" "free speech"? I notice you didn’t say anything about that, Gov. Abbott.

Greg Abbott apparently has no problem with Texas governments financing companies that hate and silence the voters that elected him. Sometimes, in the case of Facebook, financing them to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars.

But when a free speech platform like Gab dares to allow freedom of speech to Texans, Gab suddenly find itself targeted for persecution by public traitors like Gregory Wayne Abbott.
